My new favorite toy
That`s Van (short for Van Halen) my new notebook PC =D
Van is a HP Pavilion DV 2025, and it is a quite powerful PC, since it can run 3D games better them my desktop PC. It have a AMD Turion X2 1.6GHz processor, a 100GB hard disk, 1024Mb DDR2 RAM, and a GeForce Go 6150 256Mb video card. But what I like most is his 14" wide screen, making Van a small note with a relative large screen.
A peculiar trait of the recently acquired notebooks is that they don't come with the usual set of disks with O.S. and drivers, but with a
restore partition. With a few clicks in the system boot, I can return his software to the same state it came from factory in a couple of minutes. It is almost the paradise from the maintenance point of view.
Almost. Why? My dad bought the same model as me, and since he does not understand a word in english, I remade the system installation with a portuguese WinXP. And took almost the same time to remove all the junk and useless features that came with the factory install in my own notebook.
Unfortunately, because of all the holidays and family stuff I had to do the last days, I still couldn't spend much time with Van yet...

Quote of the weekWhen me and
Dorian were at Abel's Aid Party last saturday, some people tryed to get us to dance funk music:
"No, I will not dance this crap for religious reasons: if a headbanger ever dances funk, he will not be alowed to go to Valhalla when he dies."
Merry Xmas everyone.

Still in Sampa. I wanna go back home.Google is taking over the world, and everyone knows it. Now they conquered blogger too, and that is a nice change for me: my blogger account was the last reminder of my old nickname/username "evilkakaroto". That is from a great time in my life, but that is so behind me that have no meaning in my life anymore. So everyone be welcome to the new chapters of the life of "tsalvador".
I'm coming back to Poa soon. The work this week was tough...
I think that I will be singing when I finally check in at Congonhas:
"Deu pra ti, baixo astral..."

Ogro is the Tourist Guy
Today I woke up early to take a tour at Sampa. I had previous info about the best places to go with my friends, and got some directions from my coworkers and Saturday morning I was taking the subway at Trianon Station in Sampa.
The subway is really neat. The rail spreads through the city, and the train is really fast. Santa Ifigenia St. is not very close to the hotel I am hosted, but with the subway I managed to get there in less then 15 minutes (the time to wait for the trains included)!
So, Sta Ifigenia is a nice place for a nerd to take a walk. But I feel bit disappointed 'cause many of the prices of the stuff I was looking for is the same (or cheaper!) in Porto Alegre. But it was not a total loss: I found this baby over there, and it was love at first sight!! I will do some math and find out if it is worth his price and (most important) I can pay for it.
At 11:30am I leaved Sta Ifigenia and ran to the train again. When I arrived at Liberdade Station and put a foot in the street, the smell of fried shrimps punched me in the nose: I was in the right place!
I was warned that most of the shops usually close at 2pm, and I had little time to get to know it. For my luck, thanks to Christmas, the shops are working normally Saturdays and Sundays in December, so I could visit all the shops I wanted =D
I lunched sushi and sashimi in Sogo shopping, and discovered that sashimi it is not tasty as I remembered from my previous experience. As all the other restaurants I've been in Sampa, it was expensive as its weight in gold. But that's not something I worry cause all my food expenses are being handled by the company.
(side note: that is my sweetest dream being realized. I can eat some of the best food available over here by free. That's also is a bitter nightmare. I'm too chubby already without eating Italian food, muqueca, barbecue and junk food.)
I got plenty of pictures... mostly from inside the shops, 'cause I feared to take the camera out in the street. So I took many (MANY) pictures of action figures! It is sad that this addiction of mine is so expensive... and most sad is I had to break many of my consuming impulsions if I wanted to spend some money in D&D Miniatures...
In the end of this marathon, I drank 3 cups os juice in Habib's. Yes, there is a Habib's in Liberdade. Middle orient is "orient" after all...
So, my Saturday tour really satisfied me. I still dont know my destiny in Sampa in this week, but I feel confident to take the train and visit some other nice places over here =D
